
How to get started with your Tai Chi training
Always start your training with the warm-up moves to make your joints and body ready for Tai Chi training and to avoid any injuries. We recommend consulting a professional Tai Chi instructor in the beginning of your training to avoid unnecessary mistakes of a beginner. However, you may practice the Tai Chi moves with the Chen Tai Chi XR App alone, if there is no teacher available when you follow these recommended steps: After warming up your body continue with reeling silk exercises to open your joints and make your body become flexible. Always focus on your feet first, as every movement is initiated from the ground. Be aware of the knees, keep them over your feet and don’t bend them too much (not over the tip of your toe). Pay attention on the shift of weight between right and left and turn your hips accurately. After becoming familiar with these lower parts, your upper body including your arms and hands may follow naturally. Keep your body upright and the spine straight, breathe naturally. Always start with slow movements before you do fast ones. Repeat the basic moves many times to internalize them and make sure your body feels comfortable with the moves. After you reach this, you may continue to start with the first routine, which is the simplified 18 posture form compiled by Grandmaster Chen Zhenglei. We recommend consulting a professional Tai Chi instructor to examine and correct your movements before you continue with Lao Jia Yi Lu Old Frame Routine One, which is the most important routine of Chen style Taijiquan.
